How to Easily Connect and Engage People Using the LinkedIn App

LinkedIn has launched two exciting new features to help you easily connect and engage people using their app! The first is that they’re providing a QR code that directs people to your LinkedIn Profile. This will be incredibly useful at events.

They also added a feature similar to what you see on websites such as Medium, that allows you to highlight text and send it straight to a Tweet. However, in this case it sends it to a new LinkedIn post.

Feel free to watch the videos with Viveka von Rosen, Vengreso’s Chief Visibility Officer, or read on to learn more about these two new LinkedIn features.

How to Use LinkedIn’s New QR Codes to Easily Connect at Events

Instead of running through the stack of business cards you collected at your last trade show, and typing a bunch of names into LinkedIn, you can now quickly connect with people on the spot by presenting them with your LinkedIn QR code or Digital Business Cards.

Another instance where this will be handy is if you’re at an event and run out of business cards. Instead of standing there spelling your name over and over again (individuals with names that are long or difficult to spell – do you feel me?), you’ll be able to pull up your QR code so the other person can simply scan it, and BOOM – Connection Request sent!

It’s really easy to access. All you have to do is launch your mobile app, click Search, and then tap ‘Scan QR Code.’ You’ll see a screen with a camera to scan a QR code, and two tabs at the top. Switch over to ‘My code,’ and you can save it directly to your phone. You can also use a web-based online QR code scanner to scan the code.

I’d suggest marking the saved image as a favorite or putting in a special album so you can easily find it later. If you have any trouble downloading it, Viveka’s video on LinkedIn QR codes includes a visual of the process, step-by-step.

How to Easily Quote Articles and Engage People with Your iPhone LinkedIn App

Now that you know how to save your QR code and use it to be a pro networker at events, let’s look at a new way to engage people with the LinkedIn App.

The next time you find something in a LinkedIn article that you want to quote, highlight the text in your App. An option to ‘Share on LinkedIn’ will pop up and when you click, it automatically creates a new post with the quote and a link to the article.

Stick to best practices when you’re writing your post. Remember to tag the writer, add relevant hashtags, and add your authentic commentary.

As with any posts, you have the option to click ‘X’ and save the draft for later. A LinkedIn Hack Viveka shared is to identify multiple articles and quotes at once and save them – so batching your content. This is how I write social media posts, and it makes filling up my calendar a lot easier.
