Building relationships with influencers is an art form, so I went straight to the source for guidance – the influencers themselves. As part of a series of interviews conducted at Content Marketing World from the Traackr Caafe, my conversation with Andrew Davis reveals how he, as an influencer, wants to be approached by brands.
Andrew Davis is a best-selling Author and well-known Marketing Speaker. He has some serious clout and is a regular target for influencer marketing strategies.
When greeted with an off the wall collaboration idea Andrew is unappreciative of the brand’s lack of research into who he is. Addressing an influencer requires finesse. Reading their content to know their backstory will make it easier to start the conversation about them and draw the influencer in.
Andrew pointed out that the collaboration should not only be about marketing, it needs to be a mutual relationship for both parties. Authenticity is key, as is the need to think long term when reaching out to an influencer.
