Did you know that you can join up to 50 LinkedIn groups? When I tell people this the reply I usually get is “why would I want to do that?”

The big reason is that you can use groups to get around LinkedIn’s InMail restrictions and send direct messages to members without actually being connected to them.

I’m certainly not advocating a spam assault on fellow group members. But it is a great way to reach out and discover if a group member is someone you should be connected to by messaging them first.
